New Support Group for Men Surviving Domestic Violence
OutReach, Madison and south-central Wisconsin’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community center and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services are offering a group for any man dealing with the effects of emotional, verbal, and physical abuse by a partner or ex-partner. This is an open, crisis-based peer support group with an initial screening for group participation. The group will start on Tuesday, June 1st at 7 pm.
The group will include open, sharing peer support, and may incorporate helpful informational materials. Topics may include the dynamics of abuse, safety planning, self-esteem, physical and emotional health, effects of domestic abuse on children, and community resources. Have an old cell phone? Want to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way and support DAIS at the same time? Ancora’s can help.
DAIS continues to collect used cell phones which are recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sound way. DAIS partners with Shelter Alliance and receives a return on every phone turned in. Last year over $6,000 was earned through the cell phone drive. Drop off your unused phone at the Ancora locations on King Street, Monroe Street or University Avenue.
